From the sea it reaches you – a shimmering conch of yellow-gold as the sun, now a blunt halberd of fire, sinks beneath the sea of the sky and the long shore. Have you stood there? Seen it? Don’t let it get away from you; don’t let the day get away from you. Now’s the time. Stand on the coast as the flaming panorama unfolds. A blunt halberd of flaming gold that now sinks beneath the sea of the sky. Have you seen it? Seen the glory of gold washing along a swath – the width of all the sky – at the end of the day!? These are the things of memory! The colors you lose yourself in – energizing the eyes – as dusk climbs in behind – soothing and evocative – riding now on the backs of birds and bats, renegades of the night. Don’t lose it to memory – absorb it.

Platges de Comte,

better known as Cala Comte, is the most beautiful beach on the west coast of Ibiza. Its turquoise waters, emerald green forest, and white sand framed by huge white cliffs explain why the place is often full of people sunbathing, swimming, or just enjoying the sunset. Cala Comte is also home to some of the best meals or cocktails served with a view of the island. I spent some months this summer, so I tried all of them. Here it goes, the best beach clubs and restaurants in Cala Comte, in order of the path around the cliff from left to right.

Yet another sleek pick, Cotton Beach Club, with its sleek decor, infinity pool, and menu made up of Mediterranean cuisine, is a great spot to eat a long lunch or dinner.

This boho beach club has a chiller energy. There are hammocks yoga classes, and more hippie pioneers of wellbeing. A good place to hang out.

beams fine modern dining into the living room, and its terrace overlooking the sea is the chef’s crown. Go for the tasting menu (€109 midweek, €139 at weekends) only if you’re a) loaded or b) on that special annual occasion you earmark to treat yourself. 7Pines Gastronomy. A family-focused ristorante serving up typical Ibizan food in a cozy and friendly environment. An ideal place for a relaxed Ibizan-style meal.
